Two health centres in Asgede, Tigray - Kisad Gaba and May Hanse - were successfully reconstructed through the Government of Ethiopia's Response-Recovery-Resilience for Conflict Affected Communities in Ethiopia (3R4CACE) Project, which is financed by the World Bank and implemented by UNOPS. These infrastructure works created better conditions for health care for some 80,000 people in these communities.

The Kisad Gaba Health Centre serves 55,000 people from this community, where some 125 outpatients every day get support from 58 staff. After suffering damage due to conflict and lack of maintenance, the 3R4CACE project enabled rapid response works on more than 10 facilities implemented by UNOPS, which included repairing of the roofs, walls, floors, toilets, electrical installations, water supply and drainage. This health centre now also has the new driveway, parking, gate, and firefighting system. The value of this reconstruction including the labour, construction material and logistics was around USD 97,000.
The May Hanse Health Centre provides service to some 37,371 residents and 15,000 internally displaced persons living in this area, where up to 200 patients a day get their medical analysis and treatments. The facilities of this centre suffered damage due to conflict and lack of maintenance, so the 3R4CACE Project allowed rapid response works done by UNOPS to restore and improve the conditions for quality health services. The works encompassed the repairs of roofs, walls, floors, and toilets, the reconstruction of the water supply and electrical systems. The total cost of this reconstruction, including labor, construction materials, and logistics, amounted to approximately USD 75,000.
The Response-Recovery-Resilience for Conflict Affected Communities in Ethiopia (3R4CACE) Project aims to (i)rebuild and improve access to basic services and climate-resilient community infrastructure and (ii) improve access to multi-sectoral response services for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivors; in selected conflict-affected communities in Ethiopia.
